Everybody loves meatballs, so much so that each nation has there own kind of meatball, often made with various combinations of beef, lamb and\/or pork: <\/span>Sweden – <\/b>k\u00f6ttbulle<\/i><\/b>, <\/span><\/i>Spain – <\/b>alb\u00f3ndigas<\/i><\/b>,<\/span><\/i> Netherlands – <\/b>gehaktballetje<\/i><\/b>,<\/span> Greece – <\/b>keftedes<\/i><\/b>, <\/span><\/i>South Africa – <\/b>frikkadels<\/i><\/b>, <\/span><\/i>and from<\/span> India through to the Middle East –<\/b> kofta<\/i><\/b>, just to name a few!<\/span><\/p>\n

We reached out to a lady with an epicure – a kitchen guru, if you may – Princess Tafadzwa to get her take. She has her own website featuring some of the most delicious traditional recipes that Zimbabweans will love, from mouth-watering desserts, side dishes, and appetizers, to kitchen how-tos.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Follow her recipe below as she remixes the tried and tested \u2018traditional\u2019 meatball by <\/span>adding some<\/span><\/i>, once again proving once you go Mr.Sauce, there is no turning back!<\/span><\/p>\n

• 1 lb ground beef<\/li>\n
• 2 eggs beaten<\/li>\n
• 1\/2 cup milk<\/li>\n
• 1\/2 cups grated parmesan cheese<\/li>\n
• 1 slice bread cut up<\/li>\n
• 1 small onion minced<\/li>\n
• 2 garlic cloves minced<\/li>\n
• 1\/2 teaspoon oregano<\/li>\n
• 1 teaspoon salt<\/li>\n
• fresh ground pepper<\/li>\n
• 1\/4 cups minced fresh basil<\/li>\n
• 1 cup Mr. Sauce Sticky BBQ Basting sauce<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

  • <\/b>Mix all ingredients with hands except for the sauce<\/li>\n
  • Form into golfball-sized meatballs<\/li>\n
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes<\/li>\n
  • Cover the meatballs in sauce and bake for another 20 minutes<\/li>\n
  • Serve warm.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Whilst Princess\u2019s recipe uses 100% pure beef to make her delicious meatballs, the most common ratio used for making meatballs is 75% beef and 25% pork. The fat from the pork binds the meat nicely and adds a buttery note. Many people find pork more flavourful and, often, it\u2019s a lot more budget-friendly! Another alternative, people tend to add bread\/breadcrumbs to make the serving size bigger. It\u2019s all up to you at the end of the day.<\/span><\/p>\n
